Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter Siswa Kelas Akhir Melalui Program Berbasis Pesantren Di Madrasah Aliyah Al-Amien Tegal Prenduan
Abstrak
Character education is a fundamental aspect of the national education system, particularly at the final stage of secondary education, which represents a critical transitional period for students as they move toward higher education and broader social life. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Final Grade Program in strengthening students’ character at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Amien Tegal Prenduan, Sumenep Regency, as well as to examine its impacts, supporting factors, and inhibiting factors. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, senior teachers, the Final Grade Program committee, final-grade students, and alumni. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Final Grade Program is implemented in a planned and systematic manner and is integrated with the culture of pesantren-based education. The program comprises various experiential learning activities, including Juz Amma memorization, worship practices, sermon practice, hajj rituals simulation, teaching practice, khidmah tarbawiyah, and pilgrimage to the Wali Songo sites, which function as means of internalizing students’ religious, social, and personal character values. The Final Grade Program has been proven to have a positive impact on improving students’ discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, social awareness, and mental and social readiness prior to graduation. The success of the program is supported by teachers’ commitment, parental support, a conducive pesantren environment, and active student participation, although it still faces challenges such as time constraints, limited funding, and variations in students’ motivation. This study confirms that the Final Grade Program can serve as a best practice in strengthening character education based on madrasah and pesantren, particularly at the final stage of secondary education.
